Poor Mandy.
I really think there should be a law against setting fireworks off at home. I'll say it again, fireworks should be banned from public sale and only be used a official, public displays only for those who enjoy them.
Our local display is tomorrow night at the Custom House quay, at the waterfront, it use to be at the Battery Park. I doubt i'll be going. |

I agree Nicola,
i went into Tesco tonight ..the firework queue was almost as long as the lottery....but full of neds!
I am lucky as my two don't get upset ( Diesel likes a little bark but does at least calm down and shut up!)
I hope everyone everyone OK night......I thought tonight would have been the worst ......but now I think tomorrow will be worse......... _________________ John Thomson

When I think of the measures we had to put in place when we were in business to conform with Health and Safety legislation, and yet the powers that be continue to allow the sale of these "mega" fireworks, I can only presume that the decision not to ban them must be a purely political one. _________________ "My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet" - Edith Wharton |

They ALL seem to come from China........and are far cheaper than before.....as you say the decision must be a political one.......every year we are sure to see people on the front pages of newspapers who have been scared by fireworks. _________________ John Thomson

I think I heard that all Fire Brigades attending firework related incidents have to be accompanied by police. Is that true? What a waste of manpower if it is.
Mandy is quiet now - the wee soul is totally exhausted and so am I. I guess it will be similar for the next 2 nights at least. Awful. _________________ "My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet" - Edith Wharton |

I don't think even with training Libby will ever be ok with them, she was shaking so badly last night, it was horrible to watch. Star and Jake are so oblivious to them, but with every bang it was like she was being struck with something, she would cower and tremble! _________________ Dogs are like Chocolate, you just can't have one! |

I think that's true because of the problems the fire service have with stones etc being thrown at their units.
I also agree that the reason fireworks are still on sale to the public is probably a political one, the government will be earning out of it for a start. It all comes down to greed! |

I'm afraid it doesn't work.
Neither does Skullcap and Valerian, DAP diffusers or even the dreaded Xanax. The firework CD doesn't help either, as it doesn't simulate the percussive effect.
She is just plain terrified, but she's as bright as a button this morning! _________________ "My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet" - Edith Wharton |

Yes, the fire brigades do have to be accompanied by police when attending call outs at this time of year regarding fireworks. Such a waste of money and time. |

Dodge is much calmer this year - they are both fine while indooors - but lindsay took them out last night and dodge was freaking, bob was getting distressed, but linds thinks mostly because dodge was so upset. I took them to the bmx park this morning and some little sh!t was setting off bangers -both dogs looked like they were ready to bolt - its just a nightmare. |
