Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
Finally he can get out and about..its been so weird to have the dog, but not yet have the walks!
He starts Puppy School tomorrow, and I am so excited about it! Am bringing my Mum and my boyfriend, so we can all learn. And then on Friday he gets down properly for the first time on the Puppy Walk!

Does anyone have any hints or tips for the Puppy School?! Suzanne, think I should send Rufus for some chats with Katie?! Razz

I have decided to wait until Puppy School is over before bringing Rufus to the training classes, so you guys have 6 weeks without the wee hooligan!

Thanks all!

Rufus had a brilliant time last night, he absolutely loved the wee black poodle that was sitting next to him, they were the perfect size to play together! He had a few barks and a few lapses of attention, lol ,and the 'look at me' task, well as soon as he realised there was a bit of smoked sausage in my hand, he couldn't concentrate on me at all, his every effort was on somehow reaching this tasty treat! But we have our wee homework sheet, and we will work on everything for next week.

My favourite part was the off lead play, and it was so good to see all the other puppies!
Thanks Eleanor!

Margaret, I looked for you and Keira, but didn't see you! See you tonight! And you Lindy and Marcella! Is Mya coming Suzanne?

Just caught up with this thread.

Susan,

Glad wee Rufus had a good time at doggie school. Keep me posted as to how he gets on. Smile

Thanks guys!

Its his last day next week, and he will *hopefully* be graduating up to the Tuesday club sessions!

He has loved his classes, and the socialisation aspect has been just brilliant, he is turning into a very friendly little dog (albeit one who is a bit rough at times!)

He finds it hard to concentrate in the actual classes when it comes to the exercises, but with the homework sheets that we get, I can work with him through the week, and I can see a big difference in him. Last night he was MUCH better at staying with me and not darting over to the other pups at every available opportunity! (though he has two special friends that he cannot be parted from for love nor money!)

I would really recommend the classes for new pups and owners!

Susan,

Wee Rufus is very young, although the main stones are set in place, so to speak, by around 4 months old, everything is still very new to Rufus and he will be wanting to go and explore everything he sees and smells n life. With a bit of hard work, patience and perseverance, he should settle into a well behaved dog.

Also, some dogs do love a bit of rough and tumble, and that's part of how they learn to behave around other dogs. If a dog doesn't want to play, it will tell the other dog so and Rufus will learn to accept that from other dogs.

Good luck with training Rufus, i'm looking forward to hearing more updates on his progress and hs goings on at doggie school. Smile

I hope that you and Rufus do come to Cumbernauld Dog Training............however there is no need to graduate from puppyschool.co.uk before coming to our classes.......this seems to be a common misconception.........puppyschool is a privately run franchise that is not associated with Cumbernauld Dog Training

Thanks Nicola!

Hi John,

No, sorry, that's just the way I phrased it - I know that puppy school is completely separate, I just decided myself that I would let Rufus finish his classes before starting at the Dog Training Club. We have Puppy School next Thursday, and then will start on Tuesday at Club! I will bring all the registration forms and things then! Looking forward to seeing you all!
