We had a lady called Margaret, and her Guide Dog Jack, to visit our Brownie Unit last night.
It was really amazing to see them in action together and I know the Brownies enjoyed it and learned a lot.
Jack is a black retriever / collie cross and he was so well behaved and so beautiful. And he has only been working for 5 months - he is still a baby really!
It is amazing how calm he was - even with a herd of excited wee girlies all ooh-ing and ah-ing over him
At the end I had to ask Margaret if I could give him a hug! He was just such a lovely beautiful big boy!!! I would have taken him home had he not meant so much to Margaret.
Bless...
Margaret was also telling me about the job of the "Puppy Walkers", but again, like the police dogs, I don't think I could do it - it would break my heart to give them up after a year _________________ Dogs are the leaders of the planet.

they are fantastic aren't Linsey. When I see guide dogs I always have an overwhelming urge to want to cuddle and pet them .............. of course, you shouldn't unless you ask beforehand. But they are so calm.
My neighbour used to puppy walk the guide dog pups. |

The Guide Dogs are marvelous as are all the working dogs. Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs do so much and mean so much to the people they look after. Jack gets mail every year from the Guide Dog Association as we have done a few of their sponsored walks.
The Brownies sounds much more interesting than when I was one!!! _________________ No one appreciates the very special genius of your conversation as the dog does - Christopher Morley |

Guide dogs, hearing dogs and disabled support dogs are great. I have tickets for the Guide dogs Xmas raffle. If anyone wants to get tickets to sell phone 01628 511705. They need all the funds they can get. _________________ Regards,

They were doing an exercise and Discover Dogs this weekend where you put on a blindfold and have a guide dog guide you round the hall. It looked very interesting but I didn't want a go. |
