Okay folks, bit of knowledge needed. I think Tikka has ear mites!?
She has been flapping them quite often last day or two and has small browny powdery dots inside one of her ears in particular. Can i buy nefin from pet shop to get rid, or is it best just to take her to vet? _________________ Barry, Kylie & Jay with precious Rotti Tikka |

I only saw her ears briefly today, but im not sure. She definitely looks like she has been scratching at them quite a bit. Holly had ear mites a few weeks after we got her, and it looked like she had brown ear wax... so it may very well be that! We took her to the vet who gave us ear drops! Were cleared up very quickly and never came back.

I thought like you Ashley at first it was just caused by her scratching, but was investigating, as you do... and a wee cluster of them together right inside were present so think it is, will take her to vets, best to get it cleared up asap. I,m scratching myself now, just thinking bout them... _________________ Barry, Kylie & Jay with precious Rotti Tikka |

Hard to say, not as severe as any of them, but that's prob best reason to get her to vets and get drops to clear up quickly rather than prolong and become more uncomfortable for her... _________________ Barry, Kylie & Jay with precious Rotti Tikka |

Kirsty could probably give you insight, Bob has trouble with this.
But I suppose a trip to the vet for the right medication to clear it up before it causes her too much discomfort. |

Hiya. From my knowledge working in a vet surgery ( quite a few moons ago now) What you describe is quite common for ear mites.
The mites are microscopic and white. Very difficult to see with the naked eye and usually quite far in to the dogs ear, but it is usually accompanied by the brown wax that you are describing.
I'm not diagnosing!!! but it sounds as though thats what the problem might be. A quick trip to the vet for drops and probably ear cleaner should do the business. Hope thats some help. |

They are good at hiding paw cuts, sometimes they 'seem' to just notice them when they need sympathy...or is that just Pixel _________________ lurchers Pixel and Zev and whippet, Fen

Doesnt sound too bad, but you are better going to vets for the ears anyway, so they can have a look at the paw too then _________________ lurchers Pixel and Zev and whippet, Fen
