I was listening to Virgin Radio the other night and they had a phone-in about freaky pets and worrying things pets have done...

A girl phoned in to say her friend had a snake and she took it to the vet because it wasn't eating... the vet said it seemed healthy and had there been any other strange behaviour? The girl said "Well yes, it usually lies curled up at my feet in bed, but it has started to lie beside me"... and the vet said "I'm sorry, but I think we are going to have to destroy your snake - it is stretching itself out to see if it is able to eat you!"

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Imagine waking up to find you were half eaten by your pet snake!!! Unless it got you head first, then it would be game over!

Anyone got any stories to top that?!?! LOL!

Laughing This is the funniest thread ever..

I came home from work one day and told kerry the exact same story (give or take). Someone in work had known someone who knew someone else that this had happened to....
Kerry just stood there with this massive grin on her face....
I didn't think it was that funny, but she said that its a bit of an urban myth, and that most household pet snakes wouldn't even bother thinking about eating a person.

I don't know if i'm exactly right about this, but the snake can judge if it will be able to eat something, by the size of its head. It will always eat the prey head first, and if it can't eat the head then it won't eat you. Pet snakes have no intention of ever eating something like a human, as long as you keep feeding them they will be content.

I'm trying to convince kerry that our next pet will be a California King Snake... but I don't think she's convinced.... she actually wanted one first, but I didn't want one, thats why we have the lizards..

i wouldn't take any chances anyway!

I really don't like snakes... had to hold one once and I hated the way it moved - kept on trying to "get" to me!

I'm really upset to think that this story isn't true... Smile I liked the thought of someones snake trying to eat em!
