Well Hek is staying in vet school for a couple of nights. I was so flustered that I left his lead and halti in the house, only realised when we got to Bearsden! So a quick trip to asda got him (another) new lead. Managed to buy a halti at the Vet school but not before he had dragged me round the dog walk (other than the lump he's absolutely normal!)
Anyway, vet phoned tonight, he's settled in fine (took his blanket and fav toy). They took blood tests (results tomorrow hopefully), and did an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed slightly enlarged lymph nodes in his stomach but they reckon this is due to the antibiotics giving him the runs, everything else was normal, there's no sign of any spread of the cancer with this test anyway, so thats good news.
They are going to do a CT or MRI scan either tomorrow but probably Wednesday morning, a full body xray and take a larger sample to see what they are dealing with. Because of the easter weekend he'll probably not get surgery til next week but I'll get him home for the weekend. Radiotherapy was mentioned briefly but we'll need to see what the further tests show.
Estimated cost £2000-£3000 without the surgery..... This is why you should insure your dog-eh???!!!!!! |

He's in great hands Lisa. Diesel stayed at the vet school for 3 days when he was ill. They done all sorts of tests and when we got him back he was in fine form and had been well cared for.
They do some amazing work there!
You're big boy is in the best place right now and they will do their absolute best for him.
I hope it can all be treated quickly and we see him out and about soon.

our thoughts are with you Lisa it's bad enough taking them to the vet let alone leaving them. but he will be well cared for at least this should give you some peace of mind.
it's good the cancer hasn't spread. fingers crossed for further results.
does the insurance pay out or do you need to pay initially and then get refunded?
my fried has to pay upfront and then make a claim at the end. my insurance pays after i pay the first £120, which is a good. |
