Does anyone own a Vauxhall Astra, reg "55" (purchased 2nd half of 2005)? My son has one and it appears the garage did not return the thingie which unlocks the wheel nuts at the last service!!!

He has a puncture and has had to abandon his car! If anyone can help, please pm me.

Thank you.

Not 100% sure, I think the locking wheel nuts aren't specific to a particular model but randomly allocated.

I have a 07 Astra but think all the bolts are different for each car but you can have a shot and see if it works. . . . . If not Mark said if you get a 17mil socket and hammer it on you could try and loosen it that way.... Give me a pm if you want to try mine anyway. Claire

Just wondering if you had got this sorted?, If not could ask my dad, He's a mechanic, what to use instead.... If it's the type that lock and aren't just screw on screw off ones then I believe there is something else you can use to get them off

Let me know and I will ask him if you want Smile

I'am not sure if you are with the AA/RAC or know someone who is with the AA/RAC. If so you can call them out and as long as the person with the AA/RAC card is at the scene they should be able to help.

Best of Luck

Thanks Robert and Megan. I used to be with AA but changed to Tesco's own cover in which the car is the member!

Mark came to our rescue yesterday - he was an absolute star! The 100/1 shot paid off - Claire's Astra's wheel nut remover fitted and Mark had us sorted out in no time! He also had some tricks up his sleeve should that not have worked but they weren't needed! He's also helping out with the puncture and replacing all the wheel nuts.

Thanks again Mark. My hero!! Embarassed

I have an 55 plate Astra and had nothing but bother with the lock nuts. They kept seizing on, the keys kept breaking, I think I had 2 sets of lock-nuts and 4 keys. In the end I took them off and through them in the bin. The wheels are alloy but standard to the SRi, and that many cars have alloys now. Unless the wheels are special I wouldnt bother again as getting wheels nicked isnt really a big problem these days.
