What is the reasoning behind pulling the dog's rear end in when doing a left about turn? Surely just the act of walking into the dog is enough to give him the idea of what to do? Apologies if it is a bit obvious a question. Confused

You move their back end by hand at first to teach them that this is what you want them to do.
When done correctly the dogs back end jumps around and into place.

Have a look at this.

Handler looked completely in control. lovely clip....but Dodge would totally freak out if I were to use a ball thrower or anything to guide or control him.... he won't even sit with his bum anywhere near me when we finish or he is in a sit Embarassed He would never come as close to me....even if I get too up close and personal to him when trying to give him affection he freaks out at times...he is ok with his head end but if you try to enclose his back end he goes wild.

Poor boy, I dread to think what has happened to him to make him like this as he has such a loving nature.
