Been to Arbroath for two weeks, just back from 4 days in Dublin, going south to Mablethorpe for two weeks to visit family and finally to Lake Garda in Italy before school starts back. Will need amother one in October to recover!!!

I'm from Arbroath and struggle to see it as a holiday destination, never mind for a fortnight Laughing

But I'm being harsh in a way only a local can be. Did you go to the switchies - Pleasureland to the tourists!! We used to hang out there every night during the summer and go on the waltzers and eye up the Weegie boys on holiday (Anyone from the west of Scotland was a Weegie to us).

And only in Arbroath would they name a nightclub after a fish product and no one thought it was strange. Sadly it's not called Smokies any more, but I sashayed my perm and rum and black there for years, most of them before I was 18!!!

Suzanne we bought a house there as I have a lot of family there. We tend not to do the tourist things but use it as a base. Lunan Bay is great for the dogs - so is Carnoustie. We also have family in Kirriemuir.

I love Lunan Bay...and also lived in Kirriemuir for a couple of years as a kid and my cousin lives there so know it well. And the cliffs at Arbroath is one of my favourite places.

I didn't appreciate living there until I left - now I do miss the beauty of Angus. Suburban Glasgow just ain't the same.

Not going anywhere! Husband refuses to leave 'sick, old Beagle'. Misty is currently behaving like a puppy with lots of life about her.
I may take the Danes and run away to the Braehead B&B for a few days when I can. It will have to be later as there are other issues preventing my escape just now.
My favourite holiday was Madiera. Wonderful people, climate, hotel, food, beautiful places to visit... I NEED a holiday.

Lorna,

My mum and dad are only just back from a fortnight in Madeira and they loved it - said it was a beautiful island. They stayed in the Rui Palace resort in Canico be Baixo, which i think is quite near Funchal.
