why not talk to John about raw feeding, and look at some of the articles on the forum?

I feed Leon raw and he loves it and is thriving!

It can seem like a bit of a leap of faith when you switch them to raw, but it just seems really "right" and the natural thing to do...

Hills Science plan is what you will see in most vets............Hills finance the canine nutrition section of the Vets university course..........I prefer raw food, no additives.

It was a vet that bred Bracken and she recommended it to me and I have carried on using it since.
The dogs like it, but I did look at feeding raw to Bracken when she was in whelp.
They had it frozen at Pet at Home... but decided it was too much of a change with having the pups and everything.

could be wrong but i assume the vets are on some sort of commission or bonus if they sell X amount!

my two are on raw to and i was a bit skeptical at first but not several months down the line i see m dogs happy and thriving and i know they are getting what they need.......also there is no massive sticky poo's!

I'm with Janis on this. I switched Cuthbert over recently to raw food (Prize Choice) out of Pets at Home (not enough freezer space to go with Landywoods!) and he seems more enthusiastic about his food and is in very good condition. The vet even asked the other day what he was being fed on as he looked to be in such good shape, even his coat gleams more now.
If need be he will still take dried food so you wouldn't be burning all your bridges at once if you did switch to raw.
Definitely worth thinking about.

As most of you have had the pleasure dis-pleasure of meeting Alfie. When we first joined the class Alfie was very very hyper he was barking for no reason, he was biting the sofa and would not take a telling I was at my wits end and after a nasty experience he would not allow anyone to clap him without him taking a snap at them Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

After lots of advise from everyone on the forum I tried a few bags of raw. At first I hated the smell however Alfie loves it, and believe it or not Alfie's behavior is much calmer around people and in class. Laughing Laughing

Hi Mike

I think I posted up last night.....too many wines....that my two boys were rescue shepherds and that I had serious behavior problems with my white boy.

I had a behaviorist out from GSR, and spent a lot of hours getting advice from our John and one thing thing I believe 100% is that taking Dodge off the additives in dog food calmed him down greatly, I think he was like a hyper kid on smarties or wotsits. Him being calmer, let him adapt to the changes I was making in his daily life and routine and definitely helped.

Raw food all the way for me.... though the food order is due friday and I have been out of food now for a couple of days. I have left the responsibility of feeding the boys with lindsay today so it will probably be pedigree scum for tea for them tonight Crying or Very sad but I will get them some mince tomorrow.

It is worth mentioning that those of us with the larger breeds generally order up some raw bones too and source chicken carcus.
