Hi

Does anyone know if it is safe to give dogs antihistamines?

Hobbes has a small rash around his neck where his collar sits. I just got him a new collar and assume that is the problem. He is scratching like mad!

I used to give my previous dog Piriton (as recomended by her vet) it did work but beware if you give maximum dose as it can cause breathlessness. It did with Rosie but she was fine when the dosage was cut back.

He might be allergic to the collar though and so the rash will come back once he stops taking the anti-histamine, hope you sort it out Smile

Oh and if you keep his collar on overnight, I would take it off to let his skin breathe a bit . Worked for us.
