Could be anything graeme. Staffies are forever barging about and bashing themselves they'll not react at the time but often swellings can appear out of nowhere for this very reason. Also as their noses are just into EVERYTHING it's also possible it could be a sting off a dying wasp/bee/beetle even a Mozzy as Staffs, like humans can be allergic to them.
A friend of mine's Staffie had a swelling right near his eye - it got huge and even with vet treatment the cause was never 100% determined - that was around the middle of October last year but it was assumed to be a bee sting....
Some Staffs are also prone to fatty cysts which can pop up and disappear causing no harm...
How big is it? Is it getting any bigger? Is it soft or hard to the touch? Can you feel right around it or does it appear solid or connected to his head?
Any chance of a picture as that might shed some light on it? (PLUS I get to see another pic of beautiful blue! ) _________________ Staffies are my life! Visit us at www.staffies.co.uk |

graeme.....just re-read your post......you say it's in the middle of his head? whereabouts? Could it just be his "stop" developing? They can look rather strange when they first start to split properly and can look a little "lumpy". It's hard to say without seeing it for myself....any chance of those pics? _________________ Staffies are my life! Visit us at www.staffies.co.uk |

Odd lumps can appear as the "stop" starts to split graeme - it occurred to me it MIGHT be that after my first post. As the area is tender and more prone to injury during the splitting process even the smallest knock can cause a bump to appear as fluid will rush to the area to protect it.
Keep an eye on it as the vets say just in case and please let me know how he gets on.xxxxx - kisses for big brave blue! _________________ Staffies are my life! Visit us at www.staffies.co.uk |
