What can dogs catch from humans?

I'm extremely prone to cold sores, when I say extremely I mean I woke up this morning with 4 5 and my top lip is massive. I'm just worried in case I can pass the virus on to Tilly.

So what is contagious from humans to animals?

I am not sure Anna but i suffer from cold sores and Yoda being addicted to kissing everyone at least 20 times a day. She has not got any of the cold sores so far.

Quite a lot of viruses can jump species but I don't think that anyone really knows which ones can and which ones can't, potentially any of them can if they mutate in the right way. When viruses jump species it is usually quite nasty for the species it has jumped to e.g. ebola, hiv, sars, some of the nasty viruses we have all came from animals. I wouldn't worry about it though as there is not that much you can do about it. There is a canine version of the herpes virus but as far as i'm aware they don't catch the human form.

LaughingLaughingLaughing I can honestly say I have never kissed Tilly, especially in the 'french' way Razz But of course I won't be kissing any people while having cold sores, and there is a good chance I won't be kissing anyone after they're gone either.

He once caught me off guard putting on my shoes - had my mouth open and I got a good tonguing. Was gross.

And Otto's done it as well.
