one of the funniest things ive ever seen involved a dog and a strawberry ... a fully grown ridgeback ...the previous one to daka ... was thrown a strawberry ...she actually pursed her lips and spat it out ...backed away from it and started barking as if it was somethin to be scared of .
sheryl im sure garlic is fine ..not raw garlic obviously .. but in the greyhound trust we used garlic a lot for the older dogs with stiff joints ... they seemed to perk up a lot with it _________________ just because yer paranoid ... doesn't mean they are not out to get you

sheryl we gave it in capsule form ... never lost a greyhound yet ... i think its probably the fact that its more like the refined oil ...and not the actual acidy bulb .... i am more than willing to be corrected tho _________________ just because yer paranoid ... doesn't mean they are not out to get you

I've read that about garlic too, maybe it's only bad for them in large doses? When I was little I didn't know that chocolate was bad for dogs and I used to feed my dog bags of cadbury's chocolate buttons! |

Garlic has great health benefits ........... I think unless you give them a full raw bulb of garlic you'll be fine Sheryl. |

hi Suzanne
the only fruit I'm aware of that is harmful grapes and raisins of course
my last dog would eat anything including the melon skins, so we only ever threw out the seeds, watching him with citrus fruit was funny as he drooled while trying to pick the up and chew

Star hates banana but he insists to keep trying it, he will put it in his mouth, spit it out the circle it then try again (just to check that it still tastes as disgusting as it did two seconds ago) He gets so upset that there is food in front of him and he can't eat it! _________________ Dogs are like Chocolate, you just can't have one! |

I googled it.........here is one answer...all others seemed broadly similar
Garlic and onion belong to the plant species Allium. Garlic has been used by humans as a food flavoring, blood purifier, antibiotic, and antiparasitic drug.
Both garlic and onion can be toxic to dogs, cats, and other animals. Cats appear to be more sensitive than dogs. In dogs and cats, onions and garlic can cause a breakdown of the red blood cells, resulting in Heinz body anemia. The bulbs, bulbets, flowers, and stems of the garlic and onion can all be toxic. There are some human baby foods that have onion in them, and it is not recommended to feed them to pets. The very small amounts of garlic that are present in some commercial pet foods have not been shown to cause any problems _________________ John Thomson
