Poor Mishka, our Buster's favourite girl.
Our daughter has a GSD with bad hip problems the Vet school were going to give her new hips but she is too jumpy for the op so instead she was put on glucosamine and a low fat diet and Claire bought a magnetic coller, it did help. She' s ten now and age is catching up with her but she still has that fighting spirit.
Kisses to Mishka from Buster.

love4 Kisses for my babe Buster...........Just got my human to translate that, my feet din't fit the key board too well, love Mishka xxxx

Janis, I've just been told to apologise to you. Robert has just read these messages and said my reply to you was very harsh.............................. that's truly not how I meant it to come across. Just that we don't care how much it costs so long as she gets better. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Whoops sorry Deborah, didn't realise that. Some of those sites might give some useful leads to you though?

I'll keep looking and if I find anything else I'll post - please just disregard what you have already checked or already know.

My pleasure Deborah - keep us posted how she goes, kisses to the patient Wink

I have just seen this. Sorry to hear this news , Deborah. Referral to the Vet school sounds like a good idea as your costs will then be covered by your insurance. Hydro baths can help to ease her. I hope that her pain is eased. I am sure you and she make the most of your time. Tummy rubs from me and Basil and Poppy.

Debbie,

I remember when you just got Mishka I would see you out front training her, doesnt seem long ago atall!

The kids were very upset when I told them she's sick, you would never know!

Newfies are also prone to hip problems and when I had Sasha at the vet I asked about it, she said if they do develop problems there's various operations they can do, so not to worry....

Doesn't stop the worrying though, I can't imagine how u must feel, my heart goes out to you both!

Sorry to hear this sad news, you would have never thought cause every time I have seen Mishka she has been full of life running and bouncing. Big hugs from us

She still does to an extent but we have noticed a dramatic change the past week. Her x rays are being sent away to see if she is able to get hip replacements but we are in such a dilemma as it is quite a horrific op and a long long recovery time. Sad

Good luck with the decision making - remember the chariot is always an option if the op is too much, by too much I mean in terms of risk, pain and % success rate NOT money as I know that doesn't concern you - you just want what is best for your girl. Please let us know how it goes.xxxxx
