attacked...again

Well today has been a very scary day..
Robbie was attacked by a dog (again) today. I hadnt noticed he'd been hurt till it started gushing with blood so I rushed him home then he went into shock and collapsed so we went to the emergency vets - the dog punctured his neck and the vet said he's lucky to be alive because luckily one of the dogs teethed only brushed against his windpipe, if it had been a tiny bit deeper it would have burst it and he'd have been a goner.
So he's having an emergency operation now and is staying overnight, so I'll find out how he is tomorrow..
Last time he was attacked was 6 yrs ago and all our hard work to build his confidence with other dogs may now be ruined and we'll be back to square one Sad

I can truely say I've had better days!

poor boy where did this happen, what set it off. was to dog on its own or with someone, what did the owner say.

This is terrible and really shocking! Hope he recovers quickly!

Mylo is covered in little scabs from all the nips he's had from being too friendly and trusting. Thankfully he just takes it because if he retaliated the other dog wouldn't stand a chance.

However, if a dog ever did any great damage to either of my dogs I would be the one they should worry about.

This just goes to show though, how easily and quickly something bad can happen when owners aren't responsible.

Thanks for your concerns everyone
Got him back from the vets today - he's ok but he looks like frankenstein after his op!
He's got a drain in him at the moment and he's under strict rest for the next weeks to come, but I'm just glad he survived.

Let's hope the owner of the dog who attacked him has some sense and takes responsibility for the costs of his/her dog's behaviour.

I am so sorry Emma. I hope Robbie recovers fully and quickly.

What breed of dog was it that attacked?? Whatever it was I think this needs reporting to the Police (if you haven't already done so, no matter what the breed is). A dangerous dog is a dangerous dog and much care should be practiced with them and it's especially dangerous if it won't listen to it's owner sadly.

I'll make another thread as I just started telling a story on here that would have totally hijacked your thread.

I'm glad to say the owners did (grudgingly) pay the vet bills but at least they're not stuck with a dog in a lot of pain.. They were being very rude about the whole thing, to say the least.

Thanks for the support from everyone - here's hoping we'll recover as quick as possible so I can crack on with rehabilitating him again. He's being very brave about it, letting us clean it and taking his medication. Fingers crossed!
