Hi my name is Katherine and I came last week to the puppy classes with my puppy Marvin the cross collie who piddled on the floor..lol (unfortunetely couldn't come today due to late night at a wedding last night)I really enjoyed the class and have been practicing sit/lie down and stay which he seems to have the hang of. Also been walking him to heel but he really pulls all the time and seems so strong for a 3 month old puppy ? LOL I encourage him all the time telling him to keep close. Will this just come in time if I keep at it ?? Should I have him walking to heel the whole walk? thanks

hey welcome. glad you had a good time and your enjoying the class.

i would say as much of the walk as possible should be walked to heel, but if he is not getting off lead then he will need to sniff about to go to the toilet.

keep at it and he should start to walk nicely.

Hi,

welcome to the forum Katherine.

As for walking to heel.........as the pack leader you decide when you want Marvin in the heel position........most of the time I would relax and as long as the dog is not pulling then that is good.......if another dog or people approach then I bring mine into a 'strict heel position'.

Hi Katherine. Welcome and well done so far with the basic commands. You just persevere with the heel. I would suggest a set time to heel followed by fun and play for the same time and then another time for heel work followed by toilet time if he hasn't gone yet.
Good luck. Sounds like you will make a great pack leader.

Hiya Katherine, nice to "meet" you. I would say you are doing just fine. Heel work takes time, anyone will tell you that and pups are just SO full of excitement, fun and mischief it does take a little longer to sink in. Very Happy

Looking forward to seeing some picture .....HINT! Wink
