it would have been big enough for Huey too!

Now where is everyone going to park since they've shut off access to the car park for the glen and fields. its used so often would've thought NLC may have taken some consideration for the community. ah well, tiny back car park it is. Seems very abrupt, no notice at all to being fenced off.

FOUND THIS ON FACEBOOK

Save and Preserve Cumbernauld House I've just spent the past 1.5hrs chatting with Gregg McClymont MP. He hadn't heard about the sale either until yesterday. He still backs the campaign and is going to try and find out more about what is going on.

Wish I'd known about this work before I spoke to him though as I'm concerned they are doing all this work around the house... with no planning permission. I could have gotten him to investigate that work.See more

Anyone know what has been fenced off? I'll maybe take a look today.

So sad that something left to the people of Cumbernauld ends up being sold for profit.

It is reported that the intention is to turn the main House into 4 flats.........with the two large houses at the side to remain as houses and 2 new built houses in the garden section which is fenced off before it runs into the fields.

No planning application has yet been made and the House is a listed building.

I think its a real shame that they sold it off to a developer. They would not have bought it if they did not think that they would be able to go ahead with their plans for flats or houses, otherwise what use is it to them?

I know the Council is (apparently) strapped for cash but could we not have had something along the lines of Colzium House in Kilsyth? Being a 'new' town means we arent steeped in ancient history like a lot of places but the history we DO have (ie Cumbernauld House) should be preserved. I suppose there wont be anything we can do though... Sad

In my town, they turned Amory House (which was left to the pensioners of the town) into a 1million pound conversion into a library and council offices, its all modern and so forth but it isn't that bad but pensioners were up in arms about it.

The old library location (which was fine) is boarded up waiting for something to happen to it.
