We've had some successes with our Dexter in the last few weeks. The biting has reduced, his recall is improving, he gets off the furniture when asked and, although he'll still chase my cat,he doesn't woof at her anymore! He sleeps all through the night, can be trusted for short times outside his crate when he won't chew the furniture and he hasn't wet inside the house since literally Christmas time! Although he has now found a new way to get attention by nipping!

I know he only does it for attention as when I stand up, if sitting, or turn round, if walking, he will bolt around the room like we're having a great game of chases. I have, like the biting, tried to ignore him but he has a tendency to go for the tender inner thigh or your bum and it is really quite sore and difficult to ignore!!! If sitting he'll start with a nibble and if ignored he'll quickly escalate it to full on biting.

We were told by the rescue where we got him from to ignore him, or crate him or pin him. Having tried it all I'm at a loss! Should we persevere or try some new approach?

i agree with lesley...... read back your own post! how far have you come Very Happy ,,,,,,, you have accomplished so much and as lesley says it's perseverance......what you are doing sounds fine...... you will work out what works best for dexter and what gets results.....the key is to keep it up and all do the same thing whether it be praise or telling off.....he will soon get the message. however no matter what dog we have we all have to keep on top of them throughout their lives, like kids they grow and try your patience at different stages! your doing great keep up the good work!
