Hey

Does anyone know of any sheep farms who may accept a voluntary worker for the lambing season? Have been contacting and searching for months but am now at my wits end as we come into the lambing season. It would be a huge disadvantage not having some of this experience when I apply for vet med.

Any contacts would be gratefully received.

Thanks a lot

Laura

Dont know anyone personally but have you tried getting the Scottish Farmer paper? Can get it online as well I think. They sometimes run ads for Farmers needing help at Lambing time. Or you could try getting in touch with Lanark or Stirling markets, they might be able to put you in touch with someone. Or phone Vets, Animal Heath (Defra) or Animal Health Officer for the council

Good luck!

Try calling nearest large animal vets. Lawries no longer do large animal. Avondale in strathaven do and struthers and Scott in doune. They'll know their better clients who'll take helpers. I went to a farm in longriggend that was great but I think he was retiring.
Lambing is great fun Smile

Don't know if this is any use to you, but there is a sheep farmer in Balmaha, called Gilbert Bannerman. I think his address is Old Manse Farm, Balmaha, or he could be reached there anyway. Worth a try.

A friend who farms near Shotts suggests Hartwood Farm at Hartwoodhill as a likely option.
Good luck
