Does anyone have any experience of this. Misty is having to get tests and im hoping its just old age, she has cataracts and now sometimes is incontinent, she does drink a lot, but I would say not more than normal, she always has been the one at the drinking bowl mostly and she never put on weight, though she is a greyhound
. She will be 13 next month so I think if she had diabetes before now, we would have known about it as she has always been health enough but always on the lean side
I wont know till I get a peepee sample then get it sent off for tests to see if she has anything other than old age but i am preparing for anything at the moment _________________ lurchers Pixel and Zev and whippet, Fen

I just know how to inject the insulin. It is absolutely not painful for the dog, because the needles are so thin. We have regulary dogs in with diabetis and it seems, they can really good live with it.
But anyway, fingers crossed that she is okay... _________________ "It is possible to live without a dog, but it is not worth it."

A work colleague had a 10 year old westie and he was diagnosed with diabetes. Once they stabilised his medication he lived a good life for another 3 years.
All I would say is that it would be good if you did have insurance - they didn't and his medication cost rather a lot.
Fingers crossed, Shirley, that everything is ok for Misty. _________________ "My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet" - Edith Wharton |

Shirley, I know we had a few dogs come in to the surgery on a long term basis that had it.
They can live good lifes so try not to worry too much. ( I know you will. So would I)
The drugs they get now are really efficient. It just may take a while to get the correct dosage etc. Keep your chin up. |
