Hi all, been practicing the sit/stay/come/finish exercise with Doogle. One thing that Bob did in the class yesterday was get the dog to come right in close when given the command to come. Any training tips on how to get the dog to get really close like this?

Doogle will come no problem, but when he sits there is always a gap between us.

Stuart,

when he comes and sits in front of you if he is not close.step back and tell him to come again.make sure you stand straight, if you lean forward towards the dog it will keep him away.

ONLY treat or praise when he does it the way YOU want.....otherwise he will think because he got the treat that what he did was what you wanted.

Try to make it a game for him to come as close to you as he can.

Did that make sense?

Stuart

for a bit of fun and to get Doogle to come in really close you can try throwing the treat through your legs as he approaches

have a go, have some fun then go back to calling him in close to see he he comes in closer than before

easier with a dog Doogle's size than say Bazil Laughing
