I'm probably a bit late in suggesting this, but since its Christmas would it be an idea to collect a few toys? It must be very boring for some of those poor dogs in kennels. I'm thinking of treat balls or chew toys that they could be left alone with. I don't suppose the dogs would mind if they got a late present.

Good idea Janice. I have cans in the garage I keep forgetting (old age is my only excuse) but I also have a box of toys I could bring too.

I have delivered well over 80 cans of dog food to the Dogs Trust..they are very grateful.

Christmas might be a nice time for people to make a donation of a spare tin of food a regular habit?

Will do, John. I think the dogs deserve it.

Just another thought on this, I know that they are oftern looking for volunteers to walk and socialise the dogs could we possible think about offering to do this as a group for one or two dogs when we go on some of our weekend walks? Obviously we would need to speak to them about it and it would need to be dogs who would be confidnet enough and fit enough to join us but i'm sure there must be some who would have a ball if we took them? maybe once a month or fortnight?

I will try and remember and bring some next week. I am hoping to take my niece to the Merseyside Dogs Trust to see Ellie, the dog I sponsor for her, when I am at my brother's over Christmas - hopefully they won't be too busy between Christmas and New Year for visitors. We'll take some food there as well - it is only tinned food I can take isn't it??

Linday anna jones - what a lovely thought - I hope we can manage that - but then putting them back into the trust would be so hard. Oh I am actually filling up at the thought - what a diddy I am - its the time of year.

I think I might enquire about it I'm sure I could manange it without getting attached and the wee dog would benefit so much I would just think of it as taking someones dog out for a wee while, at least i know it would be going back somewere decent and they will be kind to it.
