Pheobe lock your door crazy girl, the firefirghters will knock the door in, in seconds flat (trust me it's alans favourite part of the job smashing doors and windows) and they would have sony out on no time. Your house might be out of the centre of Cumbernauld but lots of crimials have cars and will clear your house in seconds flat and take Sony too as he can be sold also!!!!!!!!! Get that Door locked you mad woman

Ok....so...

First of all... LOL @ Pheobe Laughing Can't believe you have disclosed the fact you dont lock your door... crazy woman!! haha. (I do see where you are coming from though).

Second.... so are we agreed that it is best to crate train the little pup and get her used to being in it... and it being a positive, happy thing, and keep the crate in the kitchen and door open when I am around, but door closed on the crate (and still in the kitchen) while I am out? Our kitchen is not that large so I would like to hope she wouldn't come to any harm, but silly things worry me.... like....
It is a wooden floor, and if she were to run she could slip and injure herself, or fly into one of the units Shocked
Can you tell I'm a new doggy mum??? Laughing Embarassed

Best go before my imagination runs wild

Ashley - you care, and that's what matters.

I think you will make a great doggie mum and I can't wait to meet Holly!

Aw shucks!!! haha Embarassed

Well I look forward to meeting all of you... have been 'hanging around' this forum for quite a wee while now and so it will be nice to put some faces to names.

Might start with puppy school before these dog training classes, but not sure on that one yet....

My problem is this - (prepares to open her heart to everyone)....

My neighbours are not "doggie" folk and I can't ask them to check on the dogs, although they do have an house key for the alarm and our mobile numbers in case of emergency with our house.

I have this fear that we could be in an accident and the dogs would be alone for hours, or worse. We do try to take them with us whenever we can, but it's not always possible.

I told you I was paranoid, didn't I? Embarassed

Ashley

Try and get a copy of Gwen Bailley's "The Perfect Puppy"

It's helpful.

I'll lend you mine if you can't find it - just pm me!

Ashley , if you want to try the 36'' crate you're welcome to take it and see how you get on . It should be big enough for an adult Cavalier and while he's a baby you can use the divider to make it cosier for him. You don't want it too big while your house training. It cost around £40 but I'd be happy for you to try it out and give a donation to club funds if you want to keep it.

Ashley, don´t worry too much about slippery flours or things like that. You will have a puppy and that´s like with little children, they don´t fall very deep (think that´s the wrong translation, but my dictionary has no better ideas...). Very Happy

Enid, think you are a bit paranoid, but so am I. Everybody has his own spleen... Rolling Eyes

Janice, I may take you up on that, thank you. I will maybe pop into the class on the 29th... introduce Holly, and myself of course and see what goes on in a class... if that is allowed of course?
So if I dont have one by then (which I may do... my aunt mentioned she has one there we could have - didnt even realise she used one lol) then I will drop you a wee email or pm and see if you could take it with you!

Thank you so much everyone, you have all been very helpful.

Enid, I'm off to search for that book Very Happy

Enid - you're crazy!!!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Chill!!!!!!! Wink

Ashley, you are welcome to come along and watch classes no problem at all! Very Happy
I keep our boys crates in the dining room as my kitchen isn't big enough ............. mind you neither is the dining room but they are out of the way in there, we don't have to squeeze by them all the time!!!! Keep the crate anywhere you like, it doesn't matter.
