Jaws is eating my flat !!! :)

I have an other problem with Jaws. He's chewing the walls of my flat. There is a big hole now. Lol! He's also chewing and eating pretty much everything what's lying about.

What can I do?

Please write back before he starts chewing me as well...

crate him!

my last cocker spaniel did just the same thing! at first i thought it was cruel! it's not it turned out that i just left the crate door open when i was about and she used it as her own personal get away to sleep space!

i would never have a dog now without one! my two just love theirs and sometimes just go for a lie down or to go and chew on a pigs ear!

definitely an wise investment! Smile

Star ate half my kitchen wall and part of my hall wall until we crated him! Its the best thing for them Smile

I totally agree with Janis, a crate is the best investment you can make. If you always use it positively and never as a punishment he will LOVE it. Murphy is lying in his right now as the door was open and he's wandered in and curled up for a snooze!!!! Smile

When you go out pop him in his crate with a blanket or dog bed to make it comfy and a toy for him to play with.

Also, make sure he has something you want him to chew on! Whether it be a raw hide chew or a clean rag soaked in water then frozen..... give him it straight out the freezer!!! (they love this!!!!)
If you see him nibble anything he shouldn't a sharp No! and take it from him or move him away from it. Make sure he knows in no uncertain terms that your are unhappy with him chewing. Keep at this until he hopefully gets the message.

If you still have problems then Bitter Apple is worth a try. It's a spray that you dispense into the dogs mouth (they HATE it) then spray it on the things he's chewing. They dislike the taste so much that when they get the scent of it they will not go near it!!!!! Smile

marcella pondland is selling a similar spray like bitter apple! i have bought it but not yet tried it out but the dogs don't like the smell too much! it might not be as strong but may still do the job!

oh and victory v's are being sold in the chemist next to the main post office in the centre for 75p per pack! Laughing

And even when you think they can be trusted not to chew anything because they haven't done it in a while, still crate him.

totally agree - crate him!

We had to crate Leon (for a while) after he tried to eat his way out of the kitchen and demolished a large bit of skirting board and door frame.

Crate him!!!
Lady chewed through a radiator pipe amongst other things. My 2 are now crated!
