Many breeds of dogs have long hair between the pads of the paws. this excess hair needs to be removed. because dogs release body heat through the pads or their feet. clipping this away will help to keep the dog cooler in the summer. |

didn't know about the heat release through the paws.
it also gives the dog better grip on laminate flooring. |

I know dogs release heat through the paws. If a dog is suffering from heat exhaustion (more prone to certain breeds like bulldogs etc) the best you can ever do is put their four feet in a pool/bath etc of cold water rather than try to give them a drink (which can cause shock) or soak a blanket and put it over them.
A cool blanket is great, its silver in colour and even in the hottest of temperatures stays cool. We take them to the shows in summer where they are held outside, although mine dont suffer in heat at all I like to take one just to make sure. |
