Her poo was a little more solid and she had drank nearly all the water we left out for her too. Do just waiting for everything to pass through now! Will keep you all up to date on poo consistency and formation Shocked Confused Laughing

Ok, she just pooed again.....

It was still squishy but this time had some mucus in it Shocked Confused

Think we might make an app for her for the vet for tomorrow morning, or am I worrying too much?

She was wormed on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd. Could this be causing it along with settling in etc?

Confused Sad Sad

Good. he will look after her.

Might be colitis, if there is mucus.

Have noticed that when other people on the net have expressed the same concerns as I have about poo and mucus etc, Pedigree Puppy food is a common factor. A few people have said it may have been too strong for her tummy.
The breeder had been feeding her on it before i got her, so not too sure if this is the case. Hope that is all it is though.

It is inflammation of the large intestine - the colon, and is not serious in adult dogs. Don't know for sure about pups. The goodness from the food is mostly absorbed through the small intestine so she will be getting nutrients.

The mucus occurs because the moisture from the stool is not reabsorbed in the final stages!!. The dog needs to go urgently and frequently. It can be caused by stress so is likely with the upheaval in her life.

I hope this helps to put your mind at rest a bit, Ashley. All will be fine soon.

My German Shepherd bitch was very prone to mucus in her stools and runny tummy, it was always diagnosed as enteritus (not sure if this is how it is spelled) which was uncomfortable but not serious. She would be given glucose sachets, probably with some other nutrients in it and she was generally ok in a couple of days

.....and if it is colitis, starving would be useless and even dangerous.

Otto had colitis at 5 months and the vet advised us to starve him for 24 hours, then feed him plain food for 4 days then put him back on normal food. Plus we got an antibiotic/anti-inflammatory. Cleared it up.

One of the symptoms though is that the dog will try to poo all the time (like every half an hour) and whines to get out, but mostly nothing happens....you might get the odd solid one but mostly very runny and doesnt seem to improve.

Vet is best bet.

Mandy had it recently. It was caused by stress and we were told not to starve her, because of where the inflammation is.

She had the same medication as Otto and recovered very quickly.

It is a very uncomfortable thing for a dog to suffer.

They can also pick it up from eating disgusting things - which is how Otto got it ie bacteria got into his gut.

Yes it certainly looks painful when she does do the toilet, and she tends to move forward when she does it, as if something has hurt her and she is trying to get away from it. Plus for a few seconds after she has pooped I can see her still contracting... if you get what I mean without too much detail Shocked
