I think it is, Marcella. It's there in black and white. Basically, she states that I shouldn't have a Westie (terrier) because I wouldn't allow her to go hunt and kill vermin like the origins of her instincts tell her. They weren't originally bred to kill cats. |
That is not what i said at all nicola. Go back and read it again if you want to make sure
If folk don't want to have their dogs hunting an killing other small furry things then thats their choice, and you do your best to make sure the don't get put into that situation. However to destroy a healthy terrier for being a terrier is disgraceful.

In your opinion.
Dogs killing cats, which could be our cats, in my opinion, is disgraceful. |

It was my bobs behaviour with the cat that sparked this thread.
just to let you all know his sharp jab in his back leg has worked, he has adopted a more dodge like approach to the cat and not going near her or making any eye contact with her -hallelujaha
Nicola - ask any one who knows me or my two dogs - they are really happy with their life - and your comment that anyone who hits a dog should not own one is outrageous. I have never ever hit Bob in the past, but the situation with the cat was very serious - it would never be my intention to hit him again - but if he starts going for the cat again I will consider it ,for his own safety and the cats. |

May i respectfully ask Nicola that if the occasion did occur that one of your terriers killed or turn on a cat, that you contact me, or ask john to contact me rather than destroy it.
I have a many friends in terrier rescue, and i will give you my word that they will find it a good home with a knowledgeable owner, who would be sympathetic to the more basic terrier traits while keeping up your finer standards o good ownership.

This post interests me - I see that you have taken it upon yourself, Linsey, to talk on behalf of the board!
I have attended classes since August, and I think people know who I am. Nevertheless, although some folk make a point of talking to me every week - if they had not I would have given up months ago- quite a number of "board" regulars make me feel exactly as you describe - a complete outsider. _________________ "My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet" - Edith Wharton |

My Westie won't kill a cat, neither would my crossbreed. I can assure you that if they ever did, you wouldn't ever get your hands on my dogs. |

Enid, it was a turn of phrase and I think you are perhaps nitpicking a wee bit. I don't intend to speak on behalf of everyone... All I know is that when I joined the club everyone made me feel very welcome, and even more so when I joined the walks. Also whenever a new person comes on to the forum and introduces themselves, nearly everyone who is online at the time will welcome them. I also speak from the experience of having begun to socialise with members of the club and forum on a few nights out...
When I am new to a situation and I don't know people I can be quiet and tend to take a step back, but once I introduced myself and chatted to a few members (online and in person) everyone really took the time to make me feel welcome and now I can honestly say that I feel a part of the club in some small way.
I am pretty sure I know you from the class... Come and say hello, because it would be nice to get to know you.

It was horrible, it bounced along the road and did for my wheel balance.
My mum once hit a sheep - was very baaad for her car and my pal hit a stag which wrote off her car which was a very deer accident.
Sorry!
It's not pleasant, but it is survival of the fittest - not all animals fall prey to other animals including humans. Before we had cars and dogs, we ate them. Twas ever thus. |
