Star seems to be ignoring Stephens every command. If Stephen tries to put the dogs in the garden Star runs in to his crate and refuses to go out. If Star is off lead and Stephen shouts him back he ignores him. But if I ask him to do anything he does it without hesitation.

This morning was a prime example, Stephen got up at 5am, let all three out there crates to put them in the garden and Star came belting up stairs in to my bedroom. He lay down at the side of the bed, making himself in to the smallest ball ever. Stephen came upstairs to get him but Star wouldn't move! Stephen went to pick him up and Star jumped out his arms, on to the bed and hid under the covers. He actually wet himself a little, I'm not sure if he is scared of Stephen, I don't thinks so coz they play all the time. But as soon as I told him to go to the garden he did, no problem. Stephen is seriously Pi@@ed off at him. Not sure why he is doing this all of a sudden.

Star's part collie isn't he? They always seem to have firm ideas of whose in charge :lol One man /woman and his dog. Its one of the nice things about them.

For a while Dale was much better for me than Mike and if we're both there he looks to me to check that I agree with whatever Mike says Laughing By now Mike has no problems if I'm not there.

Over the summer we tried to make sure Mike took him out more, fed him and brushed him etc. and after a bit Dale picked up the idea that he came third not second in the pack. He still looks miffed though if Mike has the lead on a walk. You know all the pack order things that you probably do anyway. If it is the collie thing you'll just have to keep at it and make sure he doesn't get away with too much.

If you're the one training him I suspect you'll be the one he'll listen to best. Would Stephen be willing to teach Star a few things? Our old dog worked very well for me or Henry but not Mike. I took Sam to the club and did the obedience bit with him and Henry taught him games and tricks. It would only cause confusion if you both tried to teach the same things because he'd pick up in any differences.

Or I could be talking rubbish. Maybe it was too cold or wet outside Laughing

What a nightmare! Dogs, eh?!

Leon sometimes tries that on with Steven, or if I am at my parents, with my mum.

I just try not to pander to him. If Steven tells the dog to do something and he runs to me, I just turn away and ignore him and tell steven to just calmly take him outside / make him sit / whatever the command was he ignored.

I think he is just trying to work out pack order - like, he knows I am boss now, but where do others fit in?! Very Happy

never let Stephen go out the door ahead of you
Never feed Stephen until you have had your pick of the food
and NEVER let him sleep in your bed. Smile

Kendal, Stephen isn't coming tonight so you can save the mental image of him in a dress for another time Laughing

No disrespect to Stephen but it don't take dogs much to work out who wears the trousers in the house Very Happy

Cold wet garden/ warm bed with mum... Hmmm...lets risk the wrath o Stephen so i can get into bed with mum, and mum might take pity on me an tell Stephen to leave me be.

Damn dags...lol
