Three dogs abandoned up a At Sassi Lassy

Hi Guys

Danna up at atsassylassy the kennels past luggiebank contacted me tonight in asking for help with re homing a GSD through GSR.

As well as a 6 year old male GSD black and tan short coat - neutered lad.

she has

a mallimute 5 year old nuetered male - black and silver (who unfortunately has sandfly disease - not contagious but will be on medication for ever) poor lad will have little chance of being re homed due to cost

and 1 unspayed 9 month old bitch liver and tan collie/lab type cross.all the dogs have lovely temperaments - the bitch is a bit shy.

They have been in kennels for 6 weeks now. the owner has just abandoned them. Danna has kennel bills of over £600 plus feeding costs, she is willing to write this off to find these dogs homes. If these dogs are picked up by the dog warden they will likely be destroyed - 7 day destruction policy in most pounds.

Can anyone out there help? put out the feelers etc.

oh Phoebe told us about those dogs a couple of weeks ago. Poor dogs, owners paid for 3 days kennelling and never came back. Sad

I hope they find homes.

The three dogs went to the dog warden today. It was so sad, cos we know the Malamute will not be re homed, because of his disease. It is a shame and it broke my heart, they where such a cute bunch. Crying or Very sad

The reality for these three dogs is THEY WILL BE DEAD IN SEVEN DAYS TIME.

I just heard at lunchtime they have been picked up by the warden.

I wish their owners could be kept in a small bare concrete floored space for the next seven days, without any heating or comfort - hosed out with freezing cold water. Fed a minimal diet because the staff don't want them creating too much body waste for them to clean, Shivering, bewildered, abandoned and terrified.

Then taken callously to a room to be euthanized.

B@STARDS - I would put the needle in them myself without a second thought

Guys, Im sorry for that last post its a bit of a neurotic rant., but I just feel so helpless. I would take one of these dogs till it could be re-homed as a foster, but at the moment just dont have the financial resources, as when you foster a dog you are totally responsible for its medical care etc.

I was saying to the walkers today that that Bob is still seeing the vet for his ears, his skin has broken out in the last couple of days and he is likely to need more steriods and antibiotics. Both dogs are still on antibiotic drops for a new outbreak of conjunctivitis and they both need inoculated at the end of this month the beginning of next.

I am seriously considering going to get the Shepherd out of the pound - and will speak to the rescue about it tomorrow - but wonder am I being irresponsible to the two rescue dogs I already have.

I also have lndsays 75 year old aunt arriving from canada on the 30th. One of my nephews is terrified of the dogs. I have family coming up from Manchester to see the old aunty and staying with me also. Marie is terrified of dogs so I am already having to kennel my two dogs during the visit

Jees, its just the wrong time, but I feel I have to do something.l is there absolotely nothing that we can do as a large group to help these dogs - what about dogs trust, though I believe they are innundated. I know the shepherd rescue is - I am hoping that if I contact them tomorrow and let them know the dogs are definately in the pound that they will get them out and pay for the kennel costs.

Lindsay has just got on to me and said why would I pick out the Shepherd to resucue and foster, thats not fair to the other two - that I cant save the world and there are dogs in pounds all over the country -this conversation is going on as I am typing -

Kirsty how long have the dogs got left in the pound and where abouts is it, I will try and contact some folk and see what I can do. If we can do somthing I could come with you to the pound and see if we can help out maybe with transporting these dogs to a rescue or going to assess and take pictures to get the ball rolling
