Our organised group walks are pretty unique and have become a victim of their own success with numbers growing as quickly as our reputation for being a happy friendly bunch spreads.. As from January our group walks and the walk section on the forum will ONLY be available to people/dogs who attend Sunday classes. |
I thought the walks and the class were two separate things - so Phoebe is right in a way as it sound for me that people who not attend Sunday classes are not welcome anymore. |

Ashley all our walks will be posted within the walk section as before. It will just be restricted so that we don't get over run by a multitude of dogs as has been happening on ocassion. People would arrive for walks having read a thread on an open forum and we didn't know them at all. People who weren't forum members or came to classes would appear having heard of our walks. This meant that at times there were literary loads of dogs and it was becoming too busy.
Leaving this section restricted means that we can control the number of people turning up for walks, it makes sense. When the summer gets closer there would be a huge amount of dogs if we didn't try to contain it in some way. |

Ahhhh I see, Marcella.... Thanks!
So the casual 'everyday' kind of walks will be posted, but it will be restricted to those who have registered with the forum?

I can't help thinking that those of us who are non walkers and may still choose to go with you, John, are being penalised as are those like Phoebe who would like to continue the walks, but not the training side.
Are we being offered any sort of reduction? _________________ "My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet" - Edith Wharton |

Ashley, the walking section will not be viewable for you if you don´t join Johns trainings class. Sorry John, but that simple came it across to me...
Enid, sorry can´t find a translation for penalised _________________ "It is possible to live without a dog, but it is not worth it."

It means, Phoebe, that we are paying the full price when we cannot have part of what is on offer. _________________ "My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet" - Edith Wharton |

I am sorry some of you feel unhappy.
After 18 months as trainer at Cumbernauld Dog Training Club I am stepping down, I am sure the club will continue......it is up to the committee to decide in what form and who the trainer will be.
I have decided to set up my own training classes, which I hope will be better than the classes I ran for the club. Anyone who is currently a member of Cumbernauld Dog Training Club has the option of whether to stay, move or train at both. No one is under any obligation.
The increased cost of the new Cumbernauld Dog Training School reflect the increased cost of a weekend let and the fact that North Lanarkshire Council offer a discounted hall rate to clubs, which the new classes are not. I t will be run by me not a committee.
I believe that my training classes offer more than most which will in part offset the cost.........for those who choose to use the facility there is the ability to purchase quality dog food at a 40% discount. People who choose to train their dogs with me will have full access to this forum, normal access will remain free of charge.
The size of the group walks had to be curbed. More and more people were turning up because they had read or been told of the walks. Someone has to be responsible for arranging these meetings and that person is me through this forum. There is no charge for these walks, I am simply limiting access to the forum where the walks are arranged.
People can at least be sure that the dogs that are turning up are 'in training' and a known quantity rather than a dog who has simply been brought on a walk so that someone else can sort out it's problems. I feel this is a better safer option for everyone.

So would we still not be able to organise some "off record, sociable, daily" walks amongst ourselves on the forum in a different section.. like 'casual walks' or something?
I was just thinking in terms of people like myself who have unfortunately not gotten to know people well enough on here to have mobile numbers etc and text around to see who is going for a walk or not.
Sorry if I am just completely missing something here.
Holly and I would love to join your 'next' set of classes as she is not finished Puppy School with Eleanor yet. _________________ Ashley with Holly & Murphy.
