|

Well as those of you who were there last night will know we had a visit from our local MSP Cathy Craigie last night.
She seemed genuinely interested in what we do and is keen to help us in any way she can. I expected a 15 minute visit simply to show face........she stayed for over an hour and a half, asked loads of questions both of me and various club members.
She was surprised at the range in age of handlers and diversity of dog breeds and that both dogs and handlers looked as though they were having fun. She commented that what we do benefits the entire community not just the dog owners.
It was clear to see that we do need a larger venue.
Thanks to Amy for setting things in motion with her letter and to everyone involved..........even the dogs behaved
I feel we have made a valuable contact. _________________ John Thomson

nice to see politicians taking an interest!
One thing that shocked me when I first moved up here is the amount of dogs wandering about and dog dirt on the streets. Perhaps its just the area I live in.
Growing up back in Yorkshire is used to be common place to see a few dogs wandering round and of course the obligatory white dog poo...but when until I came here I couldn't honestly tell you when I last saw a stray.
Its nice to know there are responsible owners about and its a shame more people are not involved with responsible ownership of their dogs. |

Nice to have someone on our side. She seemed very genuine in her interest. Let's hope she can help us. |

Great stuff, nice to see them taking an interest. Out of curiosity does she own any dogs herself.
I had your night pencilled in for the 18th for some reason so would appear we have missed it. |

Party night is Tuesday 19th Laura.
She is not a dog owner but I have to say ( as someone who is at best sceptical about politicians ) she spent far more time and was far more interested than I could have hoped! She ended up watching 3 classes and stayed over an hour and a half......asked loads of questions of me and our dog handlers.
I think we now have an ally in high places..she is keen to help in any way she can. _________________ John Thomson

Laura,
I'd be disappointed if you didn't bring them! It is a hall full .........musical chairs with dogs, musical sits with dogs..great fun........everyone laughs when I get put out because my dogs are useless
We start at 7PM
Great news about the flat. _________________ John Thomson
