Here is the training programme for the Moonwalk.

Anyone considering particiapting in the Moonwalk should have a good look at this and also a good long hard think about it. THIS IS NO STROLL IN THE PARK! We would be looking at completeing it within 8 hours. At the rate people walk round the glen it would take 26 hours to complete the Moonwalk ........... perhaps this gives an indication of how much faster you'd need to be. Bearing in mind it's not for a short burst but for a prolonged period.
Even Lindy reckons she will have to train very hard to manage this.

***Please do not register to walk unless you are absolutely sure you have the commitment and the time to do the training.***

Seriously think about it before jumping in!

Also, as this is a marathon walk, not only is physical fitness an absolute MUST, but also mental fitness to get you through it ...........

Only reply here once you have given this your consideration and post your name if you are SURE you can cope with this amount of commitment and training.

I am sure Lindy can also advise. Smile

Being realistic I know I can not get that fit in the time. I spoke to heart clinic today. They think it is a great idea but maybe for next year - not this.
However, I am very willing to help raise sponsorship money or other support role. Any suggestions?

Lorna, it makes sense. Smile
Starting to walk gradually building it up would be the answer for most of us. Cramming that much in what is a relatively short spoace of time I think is fine for someone already with a certain level of fitness.

I have my doubts about whether or not I can manage despite the fact I am really keen!!!!

i did the first edinburgh moon walk and would not have missed the experience. it is long hard cold and tiring however. no one walks that fast. you are often snagged up and have to slow down.then there are the toilet stops-all those women together. it is also open to men, bras and all.
why not walk half the moon if unsure.

i tried to post my moonwalk pic to let you see us in our bras. fortunately i have no idea how to do this. you have all been spared.

Hi Lindy,

The training programme looks really good. Smile Thanks for doing that. I might have a chat with you about it next time I see you. (Sunday?)

For anyone who decides to do the 1/2 marathon, I am doing it with my friend Anne... I originally fancied the full 26 miles but Anne wasn't sure she's manage that this year, so that was fine by me... Smile 13.1 miles it is then!

So, it's really just to say that if you do decide to do the half marathon, you won't be on your own... I would be happy to see you there! We have put down an estimate of 5 hours to complete it.

I'm combining my fundraising jointly for both the moonwalk and the Ben Lomon climb, and I will be giving all cash I raise to the moonwalk... I don't want to be asking for two lots of sponsorship in such a short space of time.

Linsey x

I dont think i could do the full distance so I am going for the half. I dont know that my health would let me do the 26 mile also I really want to do some shows with Jazz this year so I think my commitments to do that much training would be unrealistic, I may get fit enough but I dont want to push it just in case
