What is your favourite dogs name.........and why

Before I had Diesel and Murphy I had a completely black GSD bitch called Jet............I loved the name and the dog..........sadly she was only 3 when she was taken from us( hence my interest in raw feeding )..........a more beautiful pup and elegant dog I have yet to see..........but I am biased Laughing

Confused That's an impossible question. Its too hard to think of names and not of the dogs they belong to.

My favourite name has to link to my favourite dog and he didn't exactly have the most original collie name ,Sam. We didn't choose the name but by 8 weeks he knew it and came when you called so how could I change it.

Then, as a child, the first dog I really fell for was a GSD called Prince so I liked that name too and there was an Afghan called Tanya and another GSD called Rio.

I liked the idea of Merry or Pippin from Lord of the Rings but somehow they didn't suit Dale. Mike came up with that name. Glen is a traditional BC name and Mike said Dale was better because you get dales in the borders.

Jet sounds lovely. It must have been so hard to lose her as young as that. Sam was over 13 when he died and it still seemed much to soon. You should let us see some pics. of Jet.

In our family (extended and otherwise) we have had a Border Collie named Bonnie...and she was Very Happy
Labrador named sam, a boxer called Ben.
There was a GSD called Sheba, which my sister used again for her GSD, they also got a jack russell patterdale cross named Sydney.

My last BC was called Tor after Mam Tor in Castleton, Derbyshire. My better half knew a BC named Prince. There was another Prince, one of my aunties GSD's. She also had Cinders who was also a GSD.

I think I like Tweed for a BC to be honest, Moss is a very common name too and Jess.

I don't know if I have a favourite to be honest. I tend to name my animals something appropriate now. Like my first cat was called Jade because she appeared to like green things!

I like all names strange lol, hence Moya and Pixel, Allan has the name of Luka for his ridgeback when he gets it Very Happy
I had an awful bother with naming my pony as he is registered, Kebroyd Red Jasper and im not keep on people names, so he became Jazz, but ive reverted to Jasper now, he just suits it Smile
Funnily enough when I decided on a Dales pony - they are usually black - and I was getting a girl and calling her Inca

At home we grew up with Ridgebacks, my mum bred them when she had the pub, we had Kalash, Rob, Sabih, Amber, Solar and Tarak, who was a hairy GSD

Star got his name for the white patch on the back of his neck (I am really in to horses hence the star part), when the litter was born there was 8 of them and I had to weight them everyday and log their weight so each of them had to be given a name I would remember!!

Star was massive when he was born, much bigger than the other pups and was the last pup born. When he was delivered he wasn't breathing and Stephen had to revive him. Thank god we were in the house when he was born or god knows what would have happened to him!

Anyway as soon as he was born I decided I was going to keep him (not that I told Stephen until the very last minute Laughing ) So my fav name is Star coz he means so much to me, sad I know.
