Collie owners, tell me....every time I see someone out with a collie, the dog is totally fixated on the owner and the toy if they have one.

I think even if I wore a suit made of steak, outside the house/garden, I'll just never be as exciting as a smell or a bird. He does respond to commands so he's not ignoring us. But I never take a toy out as I'd throw it in a bush and have to go get it myself most times.

We have managed to spark up interest in sticks while out on a walk, but he'll only play for a short while, before a scent distracts him. Type of dog or just very boring owner?

If I want something back, he'll find it, but won't fetch it.

I would be quite happy if ralf would just walk nicely on the lead anything for an easy life is my opinion because when u have one nut case on one lead wanting to attack anything that moves and then another on the other lead just generally wanting to kill you by pulling you out on the road walks become less that peacefull Rolling Eyes

Extreme is the word for it, Lynn. Just getting the beast to come back when I have no voice to shout is the challenge for today. I can't whistle. I'm going to get a whistle.
today's solution was to get a friend to call him.
