Today is 'the day'!
Rufus is going to the groomer. I am both excited and terrified. I can't wait to see him all posh and grown up, but I am not sure how he is going to behave. He is fine with being brushed on the body, but he goes nuts when you do his legs, especially the back ones. The back ones have got matted bits that I can't get near to even cut out. He also has a little twiggy clump of hair in a very sensitive area! Last night Paul was holding him and I was trying to get near to cut it out and he was squirming, howling and biting! I don't know how the man is going to cope. I have a feeling he is going to come home half done! I thought that if I held a chew and Paul did the legs he would be OK, but he's not.

The man is already horrified that we have let him get to 6 months without seeing the groomer, and he has told me not to go near him with scissors, lol, but it just had to be done!
Think of us at 3.30!!!

You may find he is OK with groomer. Bear has a thing about his feet and scissors! He stood in chewing gum once and we couldn't get near him to get it off Crying or Very sad Vet,me,hubby and 2 vet's assistants couldn't keep him still without drugs Laughing Laughing When he is at groomers he fidgets a bit when getting his pedicure and trim but spends the whole time kissing groomer till she is done. Obviously thinks the power of kisses will stop this in humane treatment of him its funny to watch. Then can come home and see pair of scissors and tries to hide both himself (hilarious) or tucks his feet under him!

LOL at Bear's antics! Rufus is the same, he sees the scissors or the brush, he dissappears!

Well, we made it there and back, and I now have a very different looking dog!
He is so cute though, like a wee old man. Had to buy him a coat, as he was taken quite far back (I got in trouble for leaving it so long, he is now on the long road to being properly shaped, lol!) and was feeling the cold. With it on and his new moustache and eyebrows he is such a wee character!

He got clippered - the man took one look at his hair and said he couldn't strip it! But he says he will still be able to be stripped in future, which I had thought he couldn't be, but this man knows his stuff, and he has turned Rufus out really nicely, so I am actually looking forwards to going back.

He made a big fuss about the clippers, and the man was really quite rough with him, (shook him by the scruff of the neck and shouted) which I hated to see, but it did the job, and after 5 minutes he was quiet and only had a few protests!

I feel like I have a different dog! Also,we thought he was overweight and he has turned out to be slightly underweight!

I've not got one Marcella! Sad
But will try to take one tonight - you will not recognise him!

Can't believe my fluffy puppy is no more! Can't wait for you all to see him!

So glad all went well with Rufus. I am sure he will be a perfect gentleman next time. I bet he is gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing the new smart boy.

he will be fine! Wait and see - Leon is the same...

He is a wee terror at home and when I ask the groomer how he was she is like "Oh he was as good as gold" and I'm thinking are we talking about the same dog here?!

Besides, the groomers are used to it and don't take any nonsense!

Very Happy

Thanks everyone!

Enid...eeek, I know! But I tell you, he knew the hand and voice of authority when he heard it! And he showered the man with kisses at the end, so he couldn't have scared him that much!

Linsey..he has been! But I know just what you mean, my Mum's yorkie is a wee demon, and apparently is fine at the groomers! He had his toenails clipped at the vet though, and he struggled so much that she got the quick quite badly, and had to bandage him up in a wee pink stookie style thing! I nearly died when I came in, as thought he had broken his leg! Poor Ben!

Thank you Lorna and Kendal!
