He's not doing too well again guys. I can't believe it as he has been bright as a wee button these last two days. Sad

Been up all night again - he is pacing the floors and crying, and he vomited last night too.

I am at a loss.

Worried sick too.

Got an appointment for the vet at half ten this morning, which was really lucky... just trying to distract myself until it is time to head out.

fingers crossed all is well.

Sorry that wee Leon is not well again, maybe the bug or virus was still there, sure the vet will give him something to clear it up. You will be out walking with him sooner than you think. Take care. Norma and Tara

Hi guys,

Not long back from vet... he thinks it might be a recurrence of the bug he had before. If so it will be a big dose of antibiotics as his system isn't fighting it this time.

But there are a few other concerns regarding his symptoms (breathing etc) so they have kept him in this morning for xrays and tests... I think they want to rule out foreign bodies in the stomach and maybe poisoning / ate something bad...

I will hear more at lunchtime so I will let you all know whats going on.

Thanks so much everyone for all your kind words. Makes me feel better,

Lxxx

hi there everyone,

Well we got Leon back from the vet this afternoon... thankfully the tests all showed up OK... but he has very bad gastroenteritis... i *think* the vet said it was gastritis that wasn't cleared up at the first attempt and came back with a vengeance, then went into his intestines or something (i might not be quite factually spot on here - I was trying hard to remember it all!)

So, he is in a bit of a bad way and feeling suitably woebegone Smile doing his best "feel sorry for me" face at every opportunity. It's working!

He got a few jags... i think it was antibiotics, anti-inflam and painkiller, and I have these sort of charcoal based pills to feed him to soak up any "toxic" stuff in his tummy.

But he is eating and keeping it down so we are really glad about that... Dining like a king with some cod and coley from the fish counter, and a wee bit of scrambled egg too.

He will be pretty rough for a few days and I've been told not to expect too much from him for at least a week... just going to let him take it easy.

Got a BIG vet bill for all the xraying and everything, but thankfully he is insured so only have to pay excess. Soooo glad I got insurance... I mean, obviously I would have paid it anyway - I'm just glad to have peace of mind and know he is being taken care of.

Thanks everyone for all your support and wishes... as I'm sure you all know, it's one thing when you are sick yourself, but quite another when it is your dog... because they can't tell you what is wrong and you can't tell them it will be OK and you just feel really helpless and worried... and you always know that your "doggy-minded" friends will be far more understanding cos they know they are so much more than "just a dog"...!
