totally! he probably isn't constipated at all - there is just much less "waste" on raw diet...
unlike tinned food etc - it isn't full of stuff to bulk it up.
When I feed Leon on chappie he does 3 BIG poops a day, on raw he does only one and it is small! _________________ Dogs are the leaders of the planet.
If you saw two living creatures, one of them does a poo and the other carries it for him, who would YOU think was in charge?

I'm certainly no expert but as long as he is not in any distress or struggling to do his business then I wouldnt be worried. I believe there is a lot of crap in normal dog food, bulking agents and the like that the dogs body just expels as extra sh!t, and now that you are feeding a more nutritious diet the dogs body is turning a larger percent of the food to energy, muscle, fat etc that the dog needs and retaining it.
Or maybe I'm talking crap!!
John would probably be best placed to answer this. _________________ Parsons Russell fanatic |

You will find you keep an eye on what he is passing...........
There is far less waste to pass through when you feed raw. Commercial dog food is full of 'filler' to make it look as though you are feeding plenty but because the dogs cannot digest grain and the like this passes straight through the dog.
If you feel he is constipated a little milk will help. In general a higher bone content lead to firmer stools............it is a balance and every dog is different, you will soon get to know what and what amount of food suits him.
If you have any concerns please post them up or PM/email me. _________________ John Thomson

Thanks everyone, I will be keeping an close eye. I gave him boiled chicken and rice for a couple of meals just in case. Although he is his normal mad self. Back to raw tomorrow. _________________ Grace & Dexter |
