This is the one breed that could tempt me from a GSD........the South African Boerboel, widely accepted as one of the finest guard dogs around.......the photo above was well before his 1st birthday.......he has filled out a bit since then Wink

Hello everyone!

Sorry it's taken me so long to organise myself to get through with Oscar to see you, and do some training! Anyway, better late than never Wink

BTW, John - Oscar was about 3.5yrs old when that pic was taken - wouldn't want anyone to think that he was now about twice that size Very Happy He's big enough, thank you!

Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday afternoon - oops! nearly forgot - congratulations on your new training club, and your new website - I'm impressed!

See you!
Lynn and Oscar x

Lynn, he looks beautiful. It will be great not to have the biggest dog in the place for a change.

Hi Ashley

If you are interested, and if you haven't already seen them, there are some more pics of Oscar (at different ages) in the 'photos of our pets' section - I put them on the board back in Sept last year under the heading 'Oscar - the South African Boerboel'.

Hope you enjoy them!

Kind regards
Lynn

PS: I'm not surprised you fell in love with that puppy:-))

Thanks, Lorna!

When I was through (without Oscar) at the beginning of Dec there was a lady with a Great Dane there that night - would that be you, or is there more than one Great Dane in the Club?

I have to say, I think that dog is bigger than Oscar. If I remember correctly he looked taller and longer than Oscar, but maybe not so broad? Oscar weighs somewhere between 55-60kgs.

Kind regards
Lynn

John

We had 2 GSDs and a BB in South Africa - they all got on really well together! Oh, and a cat who thought she was a dog! I have to say that although I loved my GSDs, I was hooked by my BB and was thrilled to learn that the breed was available in the UK.

As you know, he is hard work, (and sometimes I make him worse), but I'd love a female as well (not to breed them, he's getting the chop before too long)!

Lynn

Lynn, I must have been that lady with the Dane. Basil weighs in at 70Kgs now. Oscar is a lovely boy.
I also have a 6 month old Dane puppy, Poppy who comes to class. My Beagle is 12 years old and too old for classes.
