I just watched it too. I think it's quite informative. I also didn't realise the Prong (or Pinch Collar whatever you want to call it) was designed by a Vet!

new to me too but i thought it was quite clear!............though disagreed with the postitioning of it but then i suppose what suits one person doesn't suit another! as long as it is used for correction correctly!

no you're not fitting them wrong emma! that is the way the makers of the prong say they have to be worn!

that's the only thing i disagree with this clip!

you i and everyone else use them correctly!

No look Janis i just rechecked the Leerburg site:

http://www.leerburg.com/fit-prong.htm

Look where the link is on the doberman, mine always slips to the side i thought it was too loose, that is where it is supposed to be Confused

I fit mine high, tight and have the link at the top dead centre........if the dog is on your left or right the effect is the same.

Quite informing I feel mine are fitted correctly but lower than they suggest however if it's high there is very littel slack to correct will try the high fitting and see how they respond

I found it interesting that the speaker said the prong was not meant to be lifelong on the dog, unless the dog was traumatized and might need it - suggesting that the collar was a training tool that eventually an owner would not need Shocked

I wonder when I can take bob and dodge's off - might be a while Shocked

i would consider all things including leads and any collar as training tools,
when i take gypsy to the pitch to do some agility work don't bring a lead as she will walk nicely beside me if she is on her own.

there have only been two occasions so far where she has run off as soon as we are you the house(both times she had not had her lunch time walk at the glen, so i conclude it was excess energy)

Fiona said the same about star she used the prong 2 or 3 times and has not felt the need to use it again, i think it depends on the dog and the handler, i don't trust Inca half as much as i trust Gypsy off lead.

mum talks about at some point the girls being good on lead and us not needing the prong, if that happens then that is good.

i wouldn't be too concerned about it Kirsty, Very Happy
