We haven't started yet but hopefully we'll be there in the future. Would love to meet your Kai though, perhaps we'll see you at a walk.

The sites are quite useful, I did a load of research before I started Kai on raw.

Hi Tracey thot i'd add a bit to this thread. Plenty of the class and forum members support the raw diet! I personally haven't looked into it that much as i,m happy with Tikka on her dried diet for now. We give her James Well-beloved which as far as dried is concerned i beleive it to be one of the best, althou i have heard chappie in a good light too! Wink
I have not seen your boy yet Confused cant wait, but if he is carrying a bit of excess weight you should consider shifting this asap. I,m sure you are aware of the health complications with joints etc, not to mention life span....

We also use James Wellbeloved, though our problem is not keeping weight off, it's keeping weight on so it's the same issue in reverse.

It's best to judge it by how they look, if they are a bit heavy cut it back a bit , if they are skinny up it. I think of it as trying to balance out a set of scales.

Dog's always look hungry, especially in the kitchen - just don't fall for it! Above his food, he gets a kong with either a peanut butter sarnie or kibble and cheese, plus training treats. Only leftovers he gets are veg, chicken or rice ie nothing lardy.

It's getting a sense of what a Rottweiler should look like/weigh ideally, but also every dog has different energy levels and depends on how much exercise he's getting.

James Wellbeloved has a website and also the amount you should feed is on the pack - though for Otto it isn't enough, so we just upped it. Feeding is in the eye of the owner so they say.
