Just thought i,d post this up to see what everyone gives their dog/dogs for TREATS!
We tend to stick to pedigree chum chew treats and now and again give her bakers ones!? Think they make her bit hyper, hence reason for thus topic to get some ideas! We make sure this is in line with her balanced diet... well most of time! We give her a kong and put above named treats within along with the paste you can buy for it! Sorry for ramble, in short please post so we can ween her off these treats.... _________________ Barry, Kylie & Jay with precious Rotti Tikka |

For training treats I use hot dog pieces. We also have natural meat treats for sale at the front desk
I know some use chicken, ham or also cheese. Use whatever you fell works.
The ultimate I have found is home made liver cake _________________ John Thomson

How about trying her with some liver cake Homemeade and healthy!
Some dogs like carrot or fruit too.
The only treats we buy are pigs ears or paddy whack which are both completely natural. But in all honesty our two don't really get treats very often, we give them a bone and that's a long lasting treat!
Another thing to try in the kong is peanut butter. |

We also use hot dogs cut up, and the meat treats at front desk on a Sunday are great, she really liked them last week.
As for the peanut butter paste for the Kong, i hate peanut butter so couldn't stomach the smell.... _________________ Barry, Kylie & Jay with precious Rotti Tikka |

I sometimes cut up liver into tiny pieces and dry it in the oven on a baking tray for maybe 30 mins at 180C. (Havent tried the liver cake yet). It lasts if you keep it in fridge and take out what you need. Only downside is the having to scrape it off the tray, goes like concrete!
Hektor also LOVES cheese. |

I know you can get a small freeze drying machine to dry out meat treats...no idea how much they cost though. _________________ John Thomson

Leon gets the occassional couple of pedigree markies - he loves htem and they take him ages to eat...
for class I either take little bits of chopped up chicken or bacon... only problem with the chicken is the amount of times I have nearly been flattened by big dogs who can smell it in my pocket!
I'd like to do the livercake for him - Janice let Leon try a bit, and he loved it. Not sure I could stomach making it tho!

I tend to stick to hotdogs or bits of turkey ham... both of which Holly love, they are easy to get hold of, and smell very strong, so for training they are great!!
I've yet to make the liver cake too, although Janis gave Holly some and she loved it!!!
Other than that, she gets pigs ears, or raw hide chews... thats about it really... she doesnt really get any treats other than the chews if im not doing training with her... i like her to see the training as a good thing where she gets some yummies. _________________ Ashley with Holly & Murphy.

Maybe Janis should start a new business making and selling liver cake to those of us who can't face making it. _________________ Regards,

For training treats I use sausages and cheese. I also buy gravy bones, pigs ears and raw hide bones. I use the pigs ears and raw hide bones to keep him amused if friends are around otherwise he just wants constant attention from them |

We have to change the treats regularly to keep the interest up, but cheese is the most effective. He's exactly the same with toys, I circulate them, and it's like giving him a new toy.
I made a mistake yesterday - after his run in the park and before class, I gave him some kibble as he had been running. Note to self, hungry dogs work harder!! |
