Good luck Barry i'm sure she will be fine you'll get a wee bottle of drops for her ears and her paw will get looked at.

I would hate my two to talk Dora would just give me cheek and Lizzy would be constantly chattering away asking me questions i think Laughing

Otto caught mites not long after we got him - a week's worth of drops from the vet sorted them out and they didn't come back.

Horrible squelching when you have to rub it in...gross.

Barry sorry it has taken me so long to reply.

Bob is going back to the vets at the weekend as he has another infestation.

When we got him his ears were in a really bad way - so its best to get this cleared up as quickly as possible as some dogs are prone to constant re infestation if it takes a hold. It is also contagious as Dodge, who had lovely pink clean ears now has some of the brown mite waste. and believe me a trip to the vets with Dodge is a nightmare for everyone concerned. I have been using the cleaning fluid that I use on bob weekly on dodge to see if this is enough to clear.

The best check is to put your nose in the ear and take a deep breath!!!! Shocked There is a pungent waxy smell. that along with the brown waxy substance is an indication of mites.

One vet came up with a good answer for bob. give him the drops for one week, then stop for a week, then start again for another week - this not only kills off the existing mites but the eggs that hatch afterwards. Someone suggested a powder, Laura I think, on an earlier thread. She also powdered the paws as she thought that when the dogs scratch (mine can get a good part of their paws into the ear) the mites were getting on the paws, then when they scratched later, they were re-infecting the ears Shocked

It is a never ending problem for poor old bob he is a the vets at least four or five times a year with his ears.

If you dont get on top of it - the dog can end up needing to be put under for deep ear canal cleaning - my previous shepherd had the same ear problems and she was put under two times.
