Well just back from vets. Tikka hasn't got mites, just bad build up of wax, but vet thinks this has been caused by something in her ear, foreign body as he said. Anyhow, he has given us anti- bio tics for her paw as he thinks it may heal itself, however if ears don't clear up in 4/5 days and paw doesn't seem better then they'll need to sedate her to clean/check ears and same for paw and put a staple or stitch in!? Hope the stuff we got clears everything up!! Rolling Eyes

Oh Barry, Rufus had to have his ears 'plucked' by the groomer. They were horrible, so much hair and loads of brown gunk! I had taken him to the vets the week before, but the vet wasn't keen to do them himself (think they prefer to knock the animals out first) and said the groomer would be more skillful and to let him try first. It was so sore for Rufus though, there was so much to come out, and at one point the muzzle had to go on and he was just lying on his side whimpering, poor wee man! But it all came out, and...the point of this rambling post is to say that a good groomer may be able to do the ears without you having to put her under an anaesthetic! Rufus scratched his ears a lot, and it wasn't mites, it was just the hair and wax, we put some cleaner in every couple of days and he has been fine since - though the hair grows back! I am supposed to tweeze it out, but he won't let me near them!

Tikka is meant to be going to Louise at Baskervilles tomorrow, might give her a call or Robert a pm as he is on Forum to see if she would be able to give them a good clean!? She had been 'flapping' like mad for a couple of days there, at one point thought she may have taken off, okay maybe not quite! Rolling Eyes
Hope her paw heals, she isn't lame on it, so think that can only be a good thing, and evidence that nothing is stuck in the cut!?

Good news about the ears Barry, will keep our fingers crossed the paw heals by itself.

Thanks for every-ones concern! Very Happy She is totally milking it thou, up on the couch, the lot!?
Think she is so frustrated aswell, shes been nipping a bit today, bit me on the ar5e when i gave Kylie a cuddle coming in from work! Shocked Not been walking her any length of time at all since discovering the cut! The annoying thing about her paw was that it was up on the grass bit of the Glen at the top, i think in a puddle as she was getting a drink!? So in other words there is glass in most areas, even the bits you would think unlikely... Beware! Evil or Very Mad
It has also been murder trying to put the cleaner in her ears, as i,m meant to get that back out a bit, and the drop ain't much better, she's really not very happy with me just now, prob why shes been nipping a bit!?

Well it sounds a bit like she's pushing the boundaries with you a wee bit now. Smile She's getting older, bigger, stronger and fitter and is seeing herself as maybe worthy of being top dog in your house? Get her off the couch for a start!!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing That is giving her the idea that she's an equal to you.
If you look at posts made by Claire and also Linsey, when their dogs were injured/ill both were being cuddled and looked after (our natural instinct) and let away with a bit more. This in turn caused them to try and adjust the pack order (natural for them).
You need to stop letting her do human things like, among others, sitting on the couch or lying on the bed Evil or Very Mad Shocked or you'll have a big strong dog that thinks she's boss!!!

Hi Barry,

Louise has a special solution for cleaning out ears. I'm helping in the salon today and will mention it to her for you. Look forward to seeing both Tikka and yourself later on! Smile

Just to let everyone kno, Tikka seems to be getting bit better!? Hard to tell with her paw, as she wasn't lame with it in first place, but after being at groomer last night, the wound is 100% cleaner, and she still has a day or 2 of her anti-bio tics. She does not seem as bothered with her ears, they have been thoroughly cleaned by myself and Louise at Baskervilles and still managing to pop drops in here and there couple of times a day! Wink
So hopefully this will continue, she got couple of short walks and out in garden for pees. No couch nor extra fuss , wounded soldier is on mend! Laughing
