What did everyone in the last three classes think of the dog swap during heelwork?

The reason behind it was to give both me and the handlers involved an insight into what kind of handler you are, plus it lets you see first hand the different problems that dealing with a large or indeed small dog can be.
Plus I think it was good fun as well Laughing

Janey enjoyed having Orla as she was a bit taller than Tess, and she thought she was a 'really good wee dug'.

I was sitting at the side watching, and we where both shocked when Tess walked better, for a bit, with someone else, i.e. her nose wasnt constantly to the ground. This is something she only does in the hall, so it's hard to address it through the week. We are going to try a slight change in the way WE are handling her though, see if it makes a difference.

Although Cara was very noisy Embarassed I think she suffers separation anxiety, even if i'm close by Laughing
And i must say Tess was very good Very Happy I liked walking her round Smile

I loved it John. Rhea (sorry for the spelling) was such a lovely dog. I have handled anything like her since my mum's GSD. Basil was a bit of a shock to his new handler!
It is good to see your dog interact with another handler. A great exercise. Thank you.

i enjoyed it, Gypsy was sooooo good, was different working with a smaller lighter dog, and poor dodge, he was moaning to get back to Kirsty Smile but he still did his thing though Smile

Yeah Koda will do a lot for food, but he was a wee so and so today, think it might have been the choc he thieved before class Sad how do you get him to stand and stay, he just wants to sit for his treat?

I have to say I enjoyed watching the dog swap ( thanks for the idea Lindy Wink )........everyone was stunned and immediately out of their normal comfort zone.

I think everyone learned to respect what other handlers do with their dogs......

Gypsy was a wee treasure she done everything I asked her immediately and she is so light to handle. Murphy also done everything I asked him immediately - koby was just a nightmare for me, probably me and not the dogs

Dodge was squealing like a stuck pig Shocked what is that all about Rolling Eyes

he only did that when you were immediately in front of him. By the time he was further round he was fine. Not a chirp from him when I had him. He was great, his about turn was nice and sharp. Smile maybe the hotdog dangling 3 inches from his nose helped! Wink

Koby realy took a shine to Margret J,i think her treats were better than liver cake Shocked Laughing i was surprised in class i didn't expect Inca to be so stubborn, and Gypsy did so well.
that was fun and interesting to try and do heel work with a different dog as you don't know what works for them. would definitely like to do that again and this time be more prepared.

i also thought it could be fun to try this in the recall they have to run through the rows of toys etc but not touch any of them
