oh just had another idea. if we got every one in the class to bring a toy we could have them put it on the floor next to there dog on the inside of the circle then walk the dogs round the hall reinforcing the leave command as we go past each toy.

lets face it how often it the day do you constantly have to tell you dog not to touch something,

I think it's the best way forward .......... always doing something like that now and again so he gets used to being parted from you. Even when out a walk if there are times when it's on lead getting someone else to walk him for 5 mins. Smile

I thought it was a good idea, but I just freaked out a bit cos I had Basil!

No offence to the big lad, as I love him dearly... but when I had him at the glen it was the same thing... he wanted to be with Lorna and was willing to drag me there if need be! Doesn't help that I'm a weed!

I think the problem for me (other than the fact I didn't manage to get his lead on him) was that he was wearing a prong. It's not that I have a problem with the prong collar, but I have no experience in handling a dog who is wearing one, and whereas if he had a normal collar, I might have been happy(ish) to haul him back, I didn't want to do that with the prong in case i didn't have it sitting right / have the lead held correctly, and hurt him...

Lorna was really good tho afterwards, showed me how to hold lead etc... I did get him to sit which i was happy with, but i think he was at the wind up because he kept sitting down then leaning on me! I was getting squished!

Talk about going from one extreme to the other! Smallest to Largest dog in 5 seconds!

I'd take a shot of him again tho! Love a challenge! Wink

I *think* at one point I squeaked "Ah! Joooooooooohn... help me!" Determined Great Dane in one hand, lead in the other!

Very Happy

Ha ha!

I was watching Crufts last night - had recorded it on sky+ so I could skip the boring bits, and when the Danes were on I was saying to Steven "I got dragged about by one of those today" Wink
