I took Yoda to the vet yesterday. They confirmed that she did not have ear mites. Thank God. However she said the ears were inflamed. She had one of those head cone thinks on which did not go down well. She has been up all night shaking her head. I have lost count of the amount of times. I am so worried she must be so uncomfortable. I am heading to the vet again at 15:30. Hopefully they can do something else. Allegedly it is some kind of allergy. I will see what they have to say today. Does anyone know will the shaking her head cause any sort of damage.

I had a cavalier when I was growing up who also had ear problems and shook his head a lot. It didn't seem to do any damage although obviously Yoda might pull a muscle or something like that if the shaking is too severe and prolonged but my dog never did.

I doubt shaking her head with damage her Amanda, dogs do that all the time! Smile
Several dogs have ear problems it's not unusual. Did the vet give you anything?

they told me to clean the ears with water, come back in a few days. Also to keep that hood thing on. I am going to ask for something today. The wee sole keeps trying to drag her face along the ground when we are out walking.

A new vet looked at her ears. lawrie had a young girl vet in, i had not seen her before. They were so nice. Anyway Yoda has two ear infections. Wee sole. I have drops for her now and cleaning materials for after the infections have cleared up. She said labs are very prone to ear infections because they love the water.

At least you got somewhere Amanda. God knows why the vet yesterday didn't see it! Confused

Hope the drops work quickly enough to give her some peace! Smile

Nothing worse Amanda, i know how u feel! Tikka has not fully recovered from her ear problems, but she does seem alot better. I found just sitting cleaning even with a baby wipe helped, its soothing for them and not as sudden and invasive as pouring liquid into their ears, which Tikka Hated with capital H Evil or Very Mad Hope she feels better, oh by the way, we have another hussy in town, Tikka! Rolling Eyes She was teasing Koda today.... and yes with that a capital T Twisted Evil

she seems a bit better today. Although when she got up she had a small vomit. Mostly bile. I think it was new dog treats i tried last night. I was trying to make getting the ear drops was a good thing because you get treats.

Amanda, there is no convincing the dogs that ear drops are a good thing i'm afraid. Just a case of securing them, getting the ear channel open and squirting in the drops. Dodge's muscle control around his ears in phenominal - he can squeeze his ear completely shut Shocked

good luck
