I am reluctant to leave Poppy alone and take Basil out. Misty had a serious go at Poppy this morning - vicious attach straight for the throat. She actually broke the skin. Poppy was just walking past her. She ran across the room to get her. I know Misty is wary of Poppy's feet as Misty's arthritis means her back and rear legs are sore if she is stood on.
Last week they were sleeping together in a heap.
I have separated them in different rooms just now. Misty has taken refuge in her crate as she knows I am not happy. _________________ Regards,

Thanks Claire. I needed to tell someone.
I am fine - just shocked by Misty's behavior. She is getting old and narky. She used to be a very happy Beagle but she can have pain because of arthritis in legs, hips and spine. I am upping her medication as I think it may be pain at the root of this.
Poppy is fine - just a wee nick. She squealed as if she was dying! _________________ Regards,

Oh poor Misty and Poppy it must have been a shock for you but it's a shame that Misty is feeling sore and getting older that it would make her grumpy and do something out of character and sure they will make up later.... Guess they are just like us when am not well and Mark annoys me a fling the nearest thing at least you managed to deal with it which is great |

Our childhood pet used to let my wee sister clamber all over her, but when she was old, she just couldn't be bothered with kids and would growl at them and we had to keep an eye on her. |

Oh no!
After seeing Rufus fight last week, I know how horrible it is.
I hope they sort their differences out Lorna! |

She is probably just having an off day Lorna.
My dads eldest dog was sometimes like that when he was having a bad day with his arthritis. _________________ Happiness is being loved by 2 Great Danes |

My Misty will lunge at Scooby when he tries to get under a duvet she is lying on or if he walks too close to her, but as yet (touching wood) hasnt actually got that far, its all noisy visious looking snarling.
But I do worry about her doing it for real as scooby has paper thin skin.
Just keep an eye on them, keep them separate when they are left if possible, Poppy probably doesnt even know she is walking over Misty, and Mistys personal space will be so huge now she is older and probbaly achy _________________ lurchers Pixel and Zev and whippet, Fen

Thanks people. Misty has settled down and is lying sleeping 2 feet away from Poppy. I have given her some pain relief as I reckon it was pain from the arthritis which made her so narky. She is getting old and less tolerant. We are keeping an eye on her and will separate them if I have to leave them. Poor old Basil missed out on his Broadwood walk at lunchtime because I was worried.
I should know better by now. I am an old narky woman myself.
