Hi Everyone,

Just thought you all might like to knnow that there is a doggie event on at Calderlgen Country Park, East Kilbride on Sat from 12.30 - 3.30, it is an awarness raising day with a few stalls from Dogs Trust, SSPCA, a small agility course with prizes and a few other activities plus a really nice palce to walk the dogs. it's all free so if you are keen just come along, I'm working at it and thought I should let you all know about it, not sure what it will be like as it is the first one that has been run but it should be fun and hopefully we will get lots of dogs and humans!!!!!

I work for south lanarkshire council's Countryside and greenspace team as a development offcier at Calderlgen Country Park East Kilbride, I mainly deal with getting people out walking in their local parks and green spaces and where there are no greenspaces just out walking in their local area. I set up walking grouips and help them become constiuted, get funding, train volunteers as walk leaders and other stuff. It's a great job as I am able to take the dogs with me most days and they come the walks with me,they only tend to be short 30 - 40 mins walks and are at a pretty slow pace, but it gets people out and enjoying whats on their door step and making new friends aswell as improving their health. As you can tell I am pretty passionate about it!!! sorry if i have gone on a bit!!!

Anyway they needed more staff for Sat and i volunteered as I love dogs and will just be in heaven with them all, that is if we get a good turn out. I think I am helping with the agility course as the guy who is scoring it is a former shepard and has dodgy knees so asked me to help him with that, i may be doing other stuff not too sure

It sounds a good day out. I'm sorry we'll miss it Sad And we'll miss the next few walks. Just hope the sun shines on the west coast.
