now i finally got a freezer ,only £15!! Smile

I'm planning on moving him to full raw, currently he is half kibble half raw. The last few nights i gave it a shot and he loved it. with half-an-half he tends to pick at it.

However is he too young for full raw at 7 months and about 25-30kg?

The kibble i buy is 23.5% protein and the mince is 16.7%. Will the 16.7% be enough for his remaining developement to adulthood. does he need the extra vitamins in the kibble?

He gets two rib bones a week, treats like "dentasitx" and "tubos" every couple of days and always has a rawhide around. i give him a marrow bone for a few hours a week. Is this enough calcuim?

btw where can i get suitable scales to weigh him so I know how much to feed him? do wets charge if i come in to use their scales?

you're worrying too much Martin! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Firstly he's not too young. Fionas dog Jake was weaned onto raw as a new puppy before she even got him. He has thrived on it. Many breeders now choose to feed raw from the word go.

Don't give him dentastix Confused they are full of caramel!!!!!!!!! Bones will clean his teeth and gums better. Wink

all i knew was is he loves raw better than anything.

what are more suitable treats in between the rib bones?

To get his weight........weigh your self, than pick him up and weigh both of you Wink subtract one from the other and you will have his weight.

Not too young to be feeding raw.......

my biggest mistake when I switched was that I over analised things.........it is NOT an exact science, you must trust your own judgment and learn to see what your dogs needs are.

Some useful sites I found include

http://www.njboxers.com/faqs.htm#started
http://www.rawlearning.com/
http://www.rawfed.com/myths/
http://www.ukrmb.co.uk/showcontent.toy?contentnid=7209
http://leerburg.com/feedingarawdiet.htm

Read as much as you can.....get as much info as you can.........the switch and the extra work is worth it!

Janey bought some of your liver cake Janis and Tess loved it, as did every other dog that got a bit. I think she taken it down the glen with Tess and had about 4 or 5 dogs around her with big pleading eyes trying to look hungry and pathetic so they could get another bit.

I clean Otto's teeth with a toothbrush and paste, specially for dogs - but then he lets me do pretty much anything .

I always use Otto's hip bones as marker. If they're too pokey, he's too thin. I can't ever see the day he's too fat unless he works out how to make fry ups.
